This role is designed for a top-tier engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong product intuition and business acumen. You will tackle ambiguous challenges, rapidly prototype solutions directly with stakeholders, and architect scalable, secure systems. You operate with high autonomy, acting as the critical technical bridge that turns business objectives into high-performing software. Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & System Design· Architect scalable, cloud-native solutions on GCP using Microservices and Serverless patterns.· Build functional prototypes directly with business stakeholders to validate ideas and compress feedback cycles.· Own features end-to-end across services, APIs, data pipelines, and frontend — making pragmatic technology choices.· Establish and enforce engineering standards, code quality gates, and documentation practices across teams.· Lead technical decision-making on backend (Node.js), frontend (React), and data (BigQuery) layers.AI-Assisted Engineering· Lead adoption of agentic AI development tools (Vertex AI, Gemini, Anthropic) across the SDLC.· Design quality gates, spec-driven workflows, and deterministic checks to catch AI-generated errors.· Critically evaluate and optimize AI tooling adoption — adopt what improves the team, discard what doesn't.Security & Reliability· Embed authentication, authorization, and data security principles into every layer of the stack.· Build GitLab CI/CD pipelines with integrated security scanning and automated quality gates.· Design for operational readiness: observability, alerting, runbooks, and recovery paths from day one.Execution & Business Ownership· Take full accountability for delivering meaningful business outcomes; communicate technical risks early and clearly.· Partner directly with Product Managers and business leaders — no intermediaries.· Mentor Senior and Mid-level engineers, elevating the overall engineering capability of the organization. Must-Have Skills· 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with proven delivery at scale.· Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript as primary development languages.· Backend development with Node.js — production-scale APIs and services.· Frontend development with React — component design, state management, and integration with APIs.· Google Cloud Platform: GKE (container orchestration), BigQuery (data engineering), and core GCP services.· Microservices and Serverless architecture patterns — design, implementation, and operations.· GitLab CI/CD — pipeline authoring, quality gates, deployment automation.· Infrastructure as Code with Terraform — modular, production-grade configs.· Authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, IAM); data security principles.· AI-assisted development tools and agentic engineering practices in production.· Experience with Vertex AI, Gemini, or Anthropic APIs in production engineering workflows.· Event-driven architecture: Pub/Sub, async messaging patterns.· Advanced BigQuery optimization: partitioning, clustering, cost management.· Energy or Utilities domain knowledge.· Performance engineering and load testing at scale.
