ASR Group® companies also produce and market Tellus®, a single-use, compostable tableware and foodservice product made from plant fibers, including sugarcane.\n\nOVERVIEW\n\nThe Sr. Packaging Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining instrumentation and control systems in support of plant production, quality, GMP and safety goals. This role designs and implements changes to plant instrumentation and control systems and manages capability development and sustaining programs for controls and electrical technicians.\n\nDETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nDesign / support both control and manufacturing execution systems.\nSupport companywide infrastructure for existing systems and serves as high level resource for operating systems and applications for Manufacturing Processes.\nPropose, design, and implement the algorithms needed to sustain continuous improvement based on manufacturing direction.\nConduct automation feasibility studies for practicality and potential return on investment.\nPrepare and submit the controls design and implementation phase of projects.\nDevelop logic and algorithms for both discrete and analog control of processes and implement.\nDevelop HMI applications to meet the needs of operations.\nInnovate to maintain our competitive edge and meet the needs of the end user.\nAssure the integrity of control and information systems through security and redundant system backups.\nDocument and develop systems for consistency.\nProvide operation, maintenance and technical support/training to production and maintenance personnel.\nMaintain health of Process Control Domain Infrastructure and existing Manufacturing Information Systems.\nAbility to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.\nThis position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.\n\nWORK EXPERIENCES\n\n5+ years of hands-on controls and instrumentation experience in Packaging improvement projects and working with packaging lines design and install.\nPrevious work experience in high-speed packaging.\nPrevious food industry experience preferred.\nGMP Practices, Sanitary Design, and OSHA regulations knowledge is highly preferred.\nA demonstrated ability to select and apply sound engineering practices and principles to the design and development of high volume consumer products packaging.\nStrong background and proven results in Leading Continuous Improvement efforts through the application of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Activities, TPM or WCM.\n\nEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS\n\nA bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college/university, with related coursework required or equivalent work experience.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY\n\nEffective leader of internal project team efforts and site activities of contractors on assigned projects\n\nESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)\n\nDemonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following: Wonderware System Platform & InTouch, Allen Bradley PLC systems (PLC5, SLC500, and ControlLogix) and associated I/O systems, Allen Bradley VFDs / Soft Starters / Servos, Allen Bradley Centerline MCCs, process instrumentation (analog valves & transmitters).\nDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written to work effectively with peers, plant operating staff, and other engineering resources.\nDemonstrated ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and quickly implement their strategy to minimize system failures.\nStrong project and time management skills and demonstrated ability to complete projects in a timely manner within budget.\n\nLOCATION OF ROLE\n\nCrockett, CA\n\nPay Range\n\nAnnual Base Salary: $101,000 - $188,000\n\nThe pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
