The successful candidate will design and implement highly interactive applications for our clients and projects that seamlessly integrate diverse data modalities (e.g., spatial, temporal, textual, spectral), as opposed to building traditional company websites. STR is seeking candidates ranging from experienced developers to technical leads; entry-level developers will not be considered for this role.\nSTR's Analytics and Command & Control (AC2) Division designs, develops and deploys novel technologies to solve challenging national security problems. Our team consists of passionate and motivated engineers and scientists with degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. The Decisions Systems Group in the AC2 Division develops algorithms and tools that enable human planners to collaborate with AI to make the best decisions possible. The VizIX team within Decision Systems serves as a center of excellence for User Experience (UX) design, development, testing, and deployment for a wide range of defense and intelligence programs throughout STR.\nThe Role:\n\nYou will join a tight-knit team highly skilled in interactive UX and data visualization design, implementation, testing, and deployment. You will oversee a novel UI/UX application effort through stages of design, implementation, and demonstration. This role will be hybrid with around 25% of time required in either our Woburn, MA or Arlington, VA office. Specific responsibilities include:\nDevelop efficient and high-performance components for data visualization and user interaction, ensuring a seamless experience even with large datasets.\nOptimize applications for speed and responsiveness across a variety of devices and browsers.\nDeliver intuitive user-centric and data-centric user interfaces for mission-focused first-of-its-kind engineering solutions\nCommunicate with the project team, users, and clients to develop and document requirements\nImplement containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes to enhance application portability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.\nAssist in the authorship of software documentation such as user training guides\nCollaborate across numerous programs and divisions within the company\nBe adaptable and passionate about continuous learning.\nWho You Are:\nBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience\n5+ years' experience with JavaScript, CSS, CSS extension languages (LESS, Sass), CSS preprocessor tools, HTML5 and its best practices.\nDemonstrated expertise with at least two of: React, Redux, Flask, Django, Node, Vue.\nDemonstrated expertise with at least one other back-end programming language (Python, Java, .Net, JavaScript) and willingness to learn more.\nDemonstrated expertise with Geolocation & Mapping such as Google Maps API, OpenStreetMap, or other mapping solutions.\nProficiency with Git version control and\nAble to work independently and as part of a team.\nU.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance.\nEven Better:\nExperience with User Interactions and User Experience, or UI/UX research.\nComfortable engaging with engineers and end-users to gather requirements\nFamiliarity with emerging AI ecosystems for UI/UX design, development, and test\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $134,000 - $184,000\nThe salary range listed is based on external market data.
