Job Summary:
The Assistant Director supports the Director in managing and operating Loving Shepherd Early Learning Center. This role involves overseeing daily activities, ensuring adherence to Christian values, regulatory compliance, and staff management. The Assistant Director is responsible for helping implement a Christ-centered curriculum and creating a nurturing environment where children can grow both spiritually and developmentally.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations:
Assist in the daily management and operations of Loving Shepherd Early Learning Center.
Ensure that all activities and programs reflect the center's Christian values and mission.
Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that supports spiritual and emotional growth.
Assist in classrooms as needed to comply with staff to child ratios.
Staff Supervision:
Support the recruitment, training, and evaluation of early learning center staff.
Provide mentorship and guidance aligned with Christian principles and values.
Assist in scheduling and managing staff to ensure effective and consistent care.
Program Implementation:
Help develop and implement a Christ-centered educational and developmental curriculum.
Collaborate with teachers to plan and execute age-appropriate activities that integrate Christian teachings.
Evaluate and refine programs to ensure they meet developmental milestones and align with the center’s mission.
Compliance and Safety:
Assists with
Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and licensing requirements.
Maintaining up-to-date records including child and staff files, health and safety documentation, and compliance reports.
Conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
Parent and Community Relations:
Act as a liaison between parents and the center, and address concerns.
Promote Christian values and foster a supportive community for families.
Church Relations:
Partner with the church staff and congregation to build community.
Participates in church events as time and talents permit.
Administrative Support:
Assist in managing the center’s budget and financial processes, including billing and expense tracking.
Help with outreach efforts to retain families.
Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the Director.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Christian Education, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a childcare or early childhood education setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid certification
Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to integrating Christian values into early childhood education.
Attributes: Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and maintain a nurturing and faith-driven environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Capable of standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Work Environment:
This role involves working within a faith-based early learning center, including both classroom and administrative settings.
Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for special events, meetings, or church-related activities.
