(CPI) is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support our customers at the U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington DC.\nBackground The U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) is responsible for the creation, dissemination and maintenance of precise time and navigation products for the Department of Defense and other customers. CPI is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a background in satellite communications to support two-way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) and fiber time transfer (FTT) systems at USNO. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and performance validation of TWSTT and FTT systems and their integration into existing timing infrastructure. The new Engineer will work with a team of engineers and technicians to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain these systems to ensure optimal performance, and investigate new approaches to time transfer as well as improvements to existing TWSTT and FTT techniques.\nMost work for this position will be completed on-site at USNO in Washington, D.C.; travel within and outside of the continental United States will be required based on the needs of the customer. An active SECRET security clearance is required for this position, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance upon hiring. The new Electrical Engineer will work closely with other CPI contractors and civilian members of the Precise Time Department, providing periodic updates to the Coordinated Time Transfer division chief.\nRequired Qualifications BS in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited institution\nKnowledge of EE fundamentals: circuit theory, power, RF, etc.\nRF and satellite communications theory\nRF system analysis and link budgets\nElectronic test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers\nPython programming\nActive SECRET security clearance\nPreferred Qualifications RF over fiber and optical link testing\nFamiliarity with photonics\nU.S. citizenship is required for DoD contracts.\nAbout CPI We love science!
