As part of a hardworking team, the Avionics Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the development of thoughtful design and integration phase the team is supporting for avionics/control hardware. This role bridges design intent and flight-ready hardware through rigorous test strategy development, circuit design spanning multiple fields, and cross-functional collaboration across power design, firmware, software, and systems teams.Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToDevelop comprehensive test strategies, test methodologies, and test fixtures — including design of supporting test hardware — for power subsystem hardware from component level through integrated vehicle testingDesign, develop, and deliver test support hardware including test cards, breakout boards, and fixture circuits to enable safe and efficient validation of power subsystem assembliesExecute and supervise validation campaigns including acceptance testing and Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testingEnsure proper test execution, data collection, and system requirement verificationDevelop and maintain automated test scripts for EGSE and vehicle power sequencingTroubleshoot electrical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actionsCoordinate and integrate interfacing subsystems with the power subsystemSupport design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and design for test activitiesEffectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to managementMinimum QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a primary focus in both hardware test and validation and electrical circuit designUnderstanding of power electronics hardware development, such as developing high-voltage switchingExperience developing test plans, test procedures, and acceptance test procedures for high-voltage applicationsExperience with automated test scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent)Understanding of power systems hardware including power distribution, DC-DC converters, power integrity, and power sequencingExperience with mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selectionFamiliarity with many of the following parts and their usage: power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), MOSFETs, op-amps, ADCs, and DACsKnowledge of common communication methods such as RS422, RS485, SPI, LVDS, or similar protocolsDesire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and test phases of the electronic assembly product lifecyclePreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field7+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systemsExperience designing or analyzing DC-DC converters, power supplies, or power distribution architecturesExperience with brushless DC (BLDC) motors and controllersFamiliarity with power supply stability analysis, worst case analysis, or FMECAPCB schematic and layout experience (Altium, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, or equivalent)Experience with signal integrity and high-speed digital interfacesElectrical design and analysis tool experience: LTSpice, PSpice, HyperLynx, or equivalentKnowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applicationsExperience with launch vehicle or spacecraft power systems hardware development, integration, and testExperience with EMI/EMC, shock/vibration, or thermal vacuum (TVAC) test environmentsElectrical Design and Analysis tools: LTSpice, PSpice, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, SimscapeExperience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standardsCompensation Range ForCA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70 CO applicants is $119,814.00 - $167,738.55 WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70Other Site Ranges May DifferCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
