This contract role focuses on Fortinet firewalls, network switching and routing, network modernization, and voice migration initiatives. Candidates must have hands-on Fortinet experience and a proven track record supporting complex enterprise environments. Fully remote candidates are welcome.ResponsibilitiesManage, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls across a large enterprise network.Administer and maintain FortiManager for centralized firewall management and policy administration.Support Cisco switching and routing infrastructure across data centers, headquarters, and branch locations.Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, security, and availability issues.Support network redesign and infrastructure modernization projects across operational facilities and branch locations.Assist with voice migration projects and related network infrastructure requirements.Support VPN connectivity, wireless access points, and SD-WAN infrastructure.Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols, including BGP and EIGRP, as needed.Support enterprise data center networking and maintain reliable connectivity across distributed locations.Collaborate with network engineers, infrastructure teams, and voice specialists on project delivery and operational support.Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, including occasional after-hours work when required.Document network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and infrastructure changes.QualificationsHands-on Fortinet firewall experience is required.Experience managing or supporting large-scale firewall environments.Strong knowledge of firewalls, network switching, routing, and enterprise network infrastructure.Experience with FortiManager or similar centralized firewall management tools.Cisco networking experience, including switching, routing, and data center environments.Experience supporting distributed networks across multiple branches, facilities, or data centers.Strong troubleshooting skills across network connectivity, VPNs, and infrastructure components.Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with a distributed technical team.Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Flexibility to support occasional after-hours maintenance activities.Preferred QualificationsExperience managing a minimum of 50 firewalls across an enterprise environment.Alternatively, experience supporting approximately 10–12 data centers in a complex network environment.Experience working for a large enterprise, retail organization, or company with numerous branch or store locations.Familiarity with SD-WAN, BGP, EIGRP, wireless access points, and enterprise VPNs.Experience supporting network infrastructure across operational branches, headquarters, and data centers.Ideal CandidateA senior-level Network Engineer with extensive enterprise infrastructure experience who has managed dozens of firewalls or supported numerous data centers. This person has strong Fortinet and Cisco expertise, understands the complexities of distributed networks, and can independently troubleshoot and support a large-scale environment. Candidates from small or mid-sized organizations without comparable infrastructure scale are unlikely to be a fit.The salary range for this position is 55/hr to 62/hr.
