Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities:Performs a variety of duties in the composite hand lay-up area, robotic, automation, acoustic, avionic, vibrational and/or optical field is a plus.Constructs, fabricates, assembles, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.QualificationsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Associate Technician (Level 2): 2+ years working as a technician or mechanic in a related fieldExperience with composites and hand lay-up techniques for monolithic and sandwich panels is requiredBe a self-starter who can work alone, if necessary and meet a deadlineMust possess teaming skills, interpersonal social skills, strong ethics, and good work habitsBe able to lift, bend and stand for prolonged hoursPossess written and verbal skills necessary to be able to effectively work within an integrated product team environmentExperience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)High School Diploma or GEDPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)2- year Associate's Degree from Trade/Technical SchoolExperience with or be willing to learn machine shop type equipment (drills, saws, sanders, etc), ovens and autoclaves, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipmentFamiliarity with aerospace specifications preferred.Experience with FTIR, GDS, GCMS instrumentation is also preferred.UnionThis is a union-represented position.Drug Free WorkplaceWe are a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay & BenefitsWe strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
