This position collaborates closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to develop innovative products from concept through production while ensuring designs meet performance, manufacturability, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.\nThe Mechanical Engineer supports New Product Introduction (NPI), production improvements, engineering change management, and continuous improvement initiatives in a precision manufacturing environment.\nResponsibilities Product Design & Development Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies for optical and electro-optical systems using Creo Parametric and/or SolidWorks.\nDevelop innovative engineering solutions from concept through production release.\nPerform mechanical design calculations, tolerance stack analyses, and engineering evaluations to ensure product performance and reliability.\nGenerate detailed engineering drawings utilizing GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.\nCreate complete manufacturing documentation, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering specifications.\nSupport design reviews and present technical solutions to engineering leadership.\nNew Product Introduction (NPI) Lead or support New Product Introduction activities from prototype through production.\nDesign and build functional prototypes utilizing 3D printing, machining, and rapid prototyping techniques.\nSupport prototype testing, evaluation, and design validation.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering during pilot builds and production transfer activities.\nAssist in process validation and production readiness reviews.\nManufacturing Support Design products utilizing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.\nDevelop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and assembly aids to improve manufacturing efficiency.\nSupport production by resolving manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions.\nParticipate in root cause investigations for product or process issues and recommend permanent corrective actions.\nIdentify opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturability, throughput, and cost.\nEngineering Documentation Prepare engineering change orders (ECOs), engineering change notices (ECNs), and revision documentation.\nMaintain accurate product structures, bills of materials, and engineering data within the ERP/MRP system.\nEnsure engineering documentation complies with company standards and configuration management requirements.\nCross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Purchasing throughout the product lifecycle.\nSupport supplier selection and technical evaluations for mechanical components.\nProvide technical guidance during supplier qualification and first article inspections.\nAssist Sales and Customer Support with technical inquiries when required.\nContinuous Improvement Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.\nAnalyze production and field performance data to improve product reliability.\nSupport cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and component standardization.\nParticipate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and risk assessments.\nAdditional Responsibilities Conduct engineering research related to new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nSpecial Authority Recommend engineering design changes to improve quality, manufacturability, and performance.\nStop production or testing activities when product quality or safety may be compromised.\nApprove engineering documentation within delegated authority.\nProvide technical guidance to technicians and cross-functional project teams.\nQualifications Experience in optics, photonics, infrared systems, aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.\nExperience with optical or electro-optical assemblies.\nExperience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).\nExperience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).\nExperience performing tolerance stack analyses.\nExperience supporting machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and additive manufacturing processes.\nExperience using ERP/MRP systems such as Infor VISUAL.\nExperience participating in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).\nExperience with finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal analysis.\nExperience working in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 environments.\nMust be a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and eligible to work on export-controlled programs.\nEducation Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.\nMaster’s degree preferred.\nExperience Minimum of two (2) years of mechanical engineering experience in product development or manufacturing.\nExperience supporting products from concept through production.\nExperience working within a manufacturing environment.\nExperience using Creo Parametric and/or
