Through our robust product engineering, outstanding tooling capabilities and diverse process expertise, we continue to bring lightweight and innovative products to market.Job Responsibilities:Summary: The Tool Room Toolmaker will repair and perform preventative maintenance on stamping dies and assembly tooling as needed, while striving to improve the quality of workmanship and time taken to complete assigned work.The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.Work in a safe, quality minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve tool room deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduledPerform tooling repair using various methods of machining and hand workOperate various tool room machining equipment and welding operationsAttend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned work loads as directed by area leadersCommunicate with tool room manager and tool room Area leaders, and other plant personnel about tool room concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when requiredAssist in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all tooling equipmentFollow and support Montezuma Manufacturing's and Magna's operating principlesSupport efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion SurveyWork with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrityWork with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principlesMay be required to adjust shifts as necessaryEnsure all documentation is maintainedSupervisory Responsibilities: May develop tool room apprentices and give guidance where neededEducation and/or Experience:Must have high school diploma or GEDPost high school tooling/machining program preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must have good organizational skillsIntermediate proficiency in computer operationsMust exhibit high integrity and honestyAbility to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements and business correspondencesAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriateAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsKnowledge of safe and proficient use of lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses and sawsMust be proficient in bench Repair, Assembly, Machinery Up-Keep, Layout, Die Repair, Inspection, Press Troubleshooting, Tooling Design, Quality Control, Die and/or Fixture Building, Welding and Heat TreatingAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
