You will influence architecture decisions, lead complex changes safely, and mentor engineers to raise the quality bar across the organization.\r\nJob responsibilities\r\nDefine and evolve target-state architecture for debit and payments services using modern distributed-systems patterns\r\nLead domain-level technical ownership across multiple services, ensuring high availability, low latency, and operational excellence\r\nDrive modernization initiatives, including platform upgrades and decomposition efforts, with clear risk management and rollback plans\r\nEstablish and enforce API governance, schema/versioning practices, and engineering standards through design reviews and reference implementations\r\nImprove reliability through service level indicators/service level objectives, runbooks, post-incident learning, and capacity planning\r\nBuild and mature observability practices, including distributed tracing and metrics that cover synchronous and asynchronous workflows\r\nPartner with security, risk, and compliance stakeholders to ensure secure engineering practices and audit-ready controls\r\nStandardize event streaming and messaging practices, including idempotency, retry strategies, and dead-letter queue handling\r\nMentor and coach senior and lead engineers, strengthening engineering practices across squads\r\nCommunicate technical strategy, tradeoffs, and delivery plans to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners\r\nRequired qualifications, capabilities and skills\r\nFormal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience\r\n10+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale\r\nAdvanced Java expertise, including concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning\r\nStrong experience building services with Spring Boot and designing secure, well-governed RESTful APIs\r\nDemonstrated experience with cloud-native delivery using Kubernetes and containers, including deployment and operational practices\r\nProven reliability engineering experience, including service level objectives, incident response, and capacity planning\r\nStrong observability experience, including instrumentation, tracing, and metrics across distributed systems\r\nSolid experience with data persistence and streaming, including relational databases and Kafka, plus schema evolution and transactional integrity patterns\r\nDemonstrated secure engineering practices, including OAuth2/OIDC, mutual TLS, secrets management, and software supply-chain controls\r\nStrong collaboration and leadership skills, including mentoring engineers and leading cross-team technical initiatives\r\nPreferred qualifications, capabilities and skills\r\nExperience supporting debit, payments, or other high-volume transaction platforms in regulated environments\r\nFamiliarity with PCI DSS-aligned controls and partnering with audit, risk, and compliance teams on evidence and remediation\r\nExperience with Camunda and BPMN-based workflow orchestration\r\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (such as Terraform) and GitOps delivery models\r\nExperience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, and/or Dynatrace in large distributed systems\r\nFamiliarity with ISO 8583 and/or ISO 20022 integrations, reconciliation patterns, or settlement workflows\r\nWe offer a competitive total rewards package including base salary determined based on the role, experience, skill set and location.
