About the RoleWe are seeking a visionary and mission-driven Vice President of Strategic Fundraising to lead our global development strategy and drive sustainable growth. This role is ideal for a senior fundraising leader with deep experience in the nonprofit sector, a passion for impact, and a track record of securing significant funding through innovative campaigns and donor engagement. The VP of Strategic Fundraising will shape and execute comprehensive strategies that elevate our brand, build lasting relationships, and expand our global footprint.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a long-term, strategic fundraising plan aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.Lead all aspects of fundraising across individual giving, major donors, foundations, corporate partnerships, and institutional funders.Design and execute high-impact fundraising campaigns to increase donor engagement and revenue.Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors and philanthropic partners.Collaborate with leadership to define funding priorities and translate them into compelling cases for support.Oversee donor communications and storytelling strategies that connect audiences to the mission in emotionally resonant ways.Analyze donor data to guide strategy, forecast revenue, and improve donor retention.Build and refine systems for reporting, CRM use, and data-driven decision-making.Work cross-functionally with programs, finance, and communications teams to ensure alignment between fundraising goals and organizational capacity.Required Skills & Qualifications5+ years of progressive fundraising experience within NGOs or mission-driven organizations.Proven success designing and leading multifaceted fundraising strategies and campaigns.Demonstrated ability to cultivate and secure significant gifts from individuals, foundations, and institutions.Exceptional communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and donor engagement.Deep understanding of fundraising operations, CRM systems, and data analytics.Strong strategic thinking and execution ability, with a results-oriented mindset.Experience representing an organization externally, including public speaking and donor presentations.Nice to HaveExperience managing and mentoring a high-performing fundraising or development team.Familiarity or prior work experience in the Middle East or with Middle East-focused organizations.Experience planning and executing fundraising events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale galas.Background in startup or early-stage nonprofit environments; comfortable building systems and processes from the ground up.Tech-savvy with comfort navigating CRM platforms, donor databases, and digital fundraising tools.Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.Personal TraitsClear, compelling communicator with a passion for people and purpose.Visionary thinker who can connect strategic objectives with grassroots execution.Resilient and adaptable—able to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.Multi-tasker who wears multiple hats with ease and efficiency.Collaborative, empathetic, and mission-driven leader who inspires others.Why Join UsHeart of Mercy is a 20 year old non-profit whose mission is to “provide education and critical aid that breaks the cycle of poverty and creates a Middle East where every child thrives.” We have over 30 educational and critical aid projects spanning Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt.
