In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis and RabbitMQ.\nResponsibilities:\nEssential Functions\nAnalyzes existing database systems and recommends improvements\nCollaborates with supervisors and security champions to establish database security structures and ensures SOX compliance\nCreates and maintains database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers\nAdministers database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network\nTunes and optimizes database objects\nProvides 24x7 on call support\nProvides technical input to solution development plans and concept documents\nDemonstrates understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to owned solutions\nCommunicates effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partners\nShares knowledge and actively mentors less experienced DBAs\nPerforms and plans major version upgrades\nDesigns and implements effective monitoring of enterprise systems\nTunes systems using experience and deep knowledge of area\nForesees risks and communicates and mitigates those before problems arise\nDocuments technical designs and procedures for team library\nPlans and manages technical projects involving other teams\nCommunicates technology effectively to non-technical associates and management\nRecognizes and understands technology impacts within the business\nContributes to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures with a desire to continuously learn new technologies\nQualifications:\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience\nMust be proficient with at least one of the following database platforms:\n\nSearch: OpenSearch/Elasticsearch\nNo SQL: Cassandra\nCaching: Valkey/ Redis\nStreaming: Kafka\nMessaging: RabbitMQ\nDevelops automation scripts using Bash/Python/Ansible for managing database infrastructure\nExperience with NoSQL database technologies\nDemonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively\nDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting\nDesired Qualifications\nPrevious experience working in a team environment\nExperience with at least two of the following database platforms:\nRDBMS: MySQL, SQL Server or Postgres\nSearch: OpenSearch/Elasticsearch\nNo SQL: Cassandra\nCaching: Valkey/ Redis\nStreaming: Kafka\nMessaging: RabbitMQ\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
