Summer Intern- RhapsodySalary: $5.50-$13.00 per hourSummer interns also receive complimentary housing and a 50% discount on cafeteria meals.I. Position PurposeRhapsody is seeking motivated Summer Interns to assist with daily restaurant operations. Interns will gain hands-on experience in culinary preparation, food service, guest relations, sanitation, and restaurant management support. This position is designed for students interested in hospitality, culinary arts, restaurant management, or food service operations.Interns will rotate through different roles including kitchen prep, line cooking assistance, serving, dishwashing, cleaning, and customer service while working under the supervision of the Chef and Restaurant Manager.II. Duties and ResponsibilitiesKitchen & Food PreparationAssist chefs with food preparation and cooking tasks.Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, slicing, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other ingredients.Help prepare salads, sandwiches, desserts, beverages, and special menu items.Operate standard kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, mixers, slicers, and food processors.Assist with food plating and presentation.Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards.Serving & Guest ServiceGreet guests and provide friendly, professional service.Present menus and assist customers with food and drink selections.Deliver food and beverages to tables.Monitor guest needs and provide refills, additional items, and assistance.Assist with clearing tables and resetting dining areas.Support staff during special events or busy service periods.Dishwashing & SanitationWash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dishwashing stations, and storage areas.Follow proper sanitation and food safety guidelines.Assist with taking out trash and recycling.Cleaning & Facility SupportClean and sanitize work areas, dining areas, and kitchen stations.Sweep, mop, and maintain overall restaurant cleanliness.Restock supplies such as napkins, utensils, condiments, and cleaning materials.Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist with food storage, inventory organization, and stock rotation.Support team members during high-volume service.Help with event preparation and breakdown.Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Manager.III. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and SkillsMust be currently enrolled as a Hocking College student for the Fall semester.Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.Provides excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, responding to requests promptly, and helping ensure a positive dining experience.Ability to listen carefully to customer needs, questions, or concerns and respond appropriately while maintaining a professional attitude.Maintains a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor in a fast-paced restaurant environment.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, communicating clearly with kitchen staff, servers, and management.Interest in culinary arts, hospitality, or restaurant operations.Previous experience in food service, restaurants, or catering is preferred but not required.Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.Ability to follow directions and maintain attention to detail.Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40-50 pounds.Ability to maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.Reasonable accommodations may be requested and reviewed according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
