This position ensures meals are served in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Servers are expected to remain attentive to guest needs, exhibit a friendly and respectful demeanor, and represent the community’s commitment to high-quality service and resident satisfaction.\nSpecific Duties and Responsibilities:\nResident Experience & Service\nMakes resident satisfaction the top priority by providing courteous, efficient, and professional service to residents, family members, and visitors.\nInteracts with all guests in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner to ensure a positive dining experience.\nOrder Accuracy & Food Knowledge\nAccurately takes and enters food and beverage orders, verifying accuracy and special requests in the POS system.\nDemonstrates knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and daily specials to assist residents with selections.\nService Standards & Presentation\nFollows all proper serving and etiquette standards (e.g., serving from the left, clearing between courses).\nEnsures food is attractively plated and served at the appropriate temperature.\nDelivers meals to resident rooms or prepares take-out orders as required.\nDining Room Preparation & Cleanliness\nPrepares the dining area prior to each meal, ensuring tables, chairs, and supplies (salt, pepper, condiments, etc.) are clean and properly stocked.\nMaintains a clean, organized, and sanitary dining environment before, during, and after meal service.\nBuses tables, returns dishes to the kitchen, and assists with general cleaning duties as needed.\nTeamwork & Operations Support\nWorks cooperatively with team members and supports the Culinary Services department by assisting with inventory, dishwashing, deliveries, and restocking as needed.\nReports any equipment malfunctions or safety issues promptly to the Director of Culinary Services.\nAssists in marketing efforts through friendly interaction with guests and visitors during tours or community events.\nResident Communication & Safety\nObserves and promptly reports any changes in residents’ conditions or behavior to a supervisor.\nMaintains confidentiality of resident and staff information at all times.\nMaintain current knowledge of senior living, assisted living, and dementia-specific care through ongoing education.\nWork a flexible schedule as needed to support events, tours, and community outreach.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nEducation/Experience:\nMinimum, high school diploma or equivalent required. Previous food service experience preferred, especially in hospitality, restaurant, or senior living settings.\nLicenses/Certifications:\nFood handlers certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).\nCharacter:\nApplicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner. Must be highly confidential and work as a team with other staff. Applicants should be sensitive to clients’ needs.\nSkills:\nStrong team building, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective peer relationships with coworkers within the Department, community-wide, and the public. Must be able to express ideas clearly, concisely, address audiences effectively, and exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Willing to be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, be proactive, and function in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, resolve conflicts, negotiate situations, and facilitate consensus.\nPhysical and Personal Requirements:\nNormal kitchen environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC.\nCompliance:\nEach employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all Lantern Crest policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All Lantern Crest employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.\nOther:\nApplicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a urine drug screen test.
