Senior Power Originator
ResponsibilitiesIdentify, structure, negotiate, and execute short and long-term power origination transactions including energy, capacity, renewable energy, tolling, and structured power agreements.Originate commercial opportunities across the ERCOT market, including bilateral transactions, renewable PPAs, battery storage agreements, demand response, and flexible capacity arrangements.Source and develop relationships with utilities, IPPs, developers, marketers, load-serving entities, QSEs, cooperatives, municipalities, and large industrial/commercial customers.Partner closely with trading, analytics, risk, legal, credit, and finance teams to evaluate opportunities and drive transactions from inception through execution and settlement.Analyze market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, congestion trends, and regulatory developments within ERCOT to support origination strategy and portfolio optimization.Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of commercial opportunities aligned with the company’s growth objectives and risk appetite.Lead commercial negotiations, term sheet development, and contract structuring for complex energy transactions.Ensure all transactions comply with internal risk guidelines, regulatory requirements, and applicable market rules.Support strategic expansion of the company’s origination platform across power, renewables, and emerging energy products.Mentor junior team members and contribute to strengthening internal origination capabilities and market presence.Candidate ProfileBachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.5–7+ years of experience in power origination, structured transactions, energy marketing, or business development within U.S. power markets.Strong knowledge of ERCOT market structure, fundamentals, transmission dynamics, and power products.Experience structuring and negotiating PPAs, tolling agreements, renewable offtake arrangements, environmental products, and flexible resource transactions.Established industry relationships within ERCOT and broader North American power markets preferred.Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced trading and commercial environment.
