Job Title: High School Architecture TeacherPosition SummaryThe High School Architecture Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on instruction in architectural design, drafting, and construction concepts. This position prepares students for careers in architecture, engineering, and related fields by developing technical skills, design thinking, and industry knowledge aligned with Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a curriculum aligned with state CTE standards in architecture and construction pathwaysTeach courses such as Architectural Design, Drafting (manual and CAD), and Principles of ConstructionProvide instruction in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp)Guide students through design projects, portfolios, and real-world problem-solving activitiesIntegrate math, engineering, and sustainability concepts into lessonsMaintain a safe and organized classroom/lab environmentAssess student performance through projects, presentations, and examsSupport students in earning industry certifications (where applicable)Collaborate with CTE staff, counselors, and administration to support student pathwaysEstablish partnerships with local industry professionals and postsecondary institutionsSponsor or assist with student organizations (e.g., SkillsUSA)Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trendsQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related fieldValid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain alternative certification)Knowledge of architectural design principles and drafting techniquesPreferredIndustry experience in architecture, construction, or designProficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.)Experience teaching or mentoring high school studentsFamiliarity with CTE programs and industry-based certificationsSkills And CompetenciesStrong instructional and classroom management skillsAbility to translate complex design concepts into student-friendly lessonsProficiency with technology and design softwareExcellent communication and collaboration skillsCreativity and innovation in lesson planningCommitment to student success and career readinessOther InformationThe District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month.
