At Excelitas Technologies you are how we EXCEL.We are presently seeking a Diamond Turning Technician for our Boulder Facility who will operate single-point diamond turning equipment in the production flow of low to high-volume jobs.Main ResponsibilitiesWorking knowledge of geometry and trigonometryPerform mechanical inspections using micrometers, optical comparators, dial indicators, and drop gauges to ensure components meet specifications with diameter, sag, and center thicknessRead and interpret complex prints to determine tolerances and specificationsOperate and maintain diamond turning equipment for the precision manufacturing of infrared optical lenses and metal mirrorsAdjust, understand programming, set up, and operate state-of-the-art lathe equipmentUnderstands the effect of feed rate, depth of cut, spindle speeds and their effect on quality with different materialsResponsible for cleaning and visually inspecting diamond-turned optical components, ensuring compliance with ISO and MIL standards for surface quality and dimensional accuracyInspects, maintains, and handles single-point diamond tools, knowledgeable in tool features, application, and proper useOptical metrology skills, including calibration and operation of interferometers and surface profilometers (e.g., Form Talysurf) for form error and surface roughness inspection of lenses and mirrorsRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED preferred.7+ year’s optics diamond turning or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.Basic Math skillsTeamwork – the ability to work effectively and contribute to a teamCNC lathe experience is preferredUtilizes good communication and interpersonal skillKnowledge with DiffSys tool path software or similarFamiliar with G&M code, modification of tool path, and use call programs as neededProficient with Microsoft Excel and WindowsBenefits start day 1: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, PAID Maternity/Paternity leave, Tuition Reimbursement, Long-term and Short-term disabilityPay Range: $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience.Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines.
