This includes new product scope definition, parts research, schematic design, PCB layout, prototype fabrication and testing, and certification testing. The electrical engineer will also assist in the development and planning of lighting installations on commercial aircraft. Technical writing and communication skills are an important aspect of this job. The electrical engineer will interface with customers and suppliers on a regular basis to develop new applications and resolve issues. The electrical engineer will draft original documents such as technical specifications, testing reports, acceptance testing procedures, qualification testing procedures and reports, and formal installations documents. Annual travel amounting to 10 to 30% of total working hours will be required to participate in sales and installation related meetings, aircraft surveys, system installations support, off-site testing of new products, and to provide customer support.\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nDemonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to ensure quality products and processes.\nProvides technical analysis of customer requirements and specifications and resolves technical issues while collaborating with customers, Sales and Marketing teams to develop innovative, cost effective, manufacturable design solutions.\nWorks with Sales and Marketing to review, analyse, and interpret the technical requirements contained in requests for proposal (RFP) or requests for quotation (RFQ).\nCollaborates with Operations and Manufacturing to ensure new product designs are cost effective for production (design for manufacturability).\nProvides timely technical guidance and support to Operations and Manufacturing on production issues with new or legacy products.\nDrives cost reduction efforts in new and legacy product designs\nLeads projects from the initial concept phase through full product certification and manufacturing release\nDesigns AC & DC power conversion products based on customer specifications\nPerforms PCB layout\nReviews and approves design drawings and documents\nPerforms failure analysis and root cause analysis (RCA)\nDrafts technical proposals, technical materials, procurement specifications, and electrical analysis procedures and reports\nSupport obsolescence mitigation, specifying alternate parts as needed\nInterfaces with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and project related issues\nCoordinates with manufacturing engineering during the prototyping and release of new products\nPerforms site surveys to collect design data and specifications for new product installations\nTravels in support of customer meetings, new installations support, and after-sales support.\nWORK EXPERIENCE\nA minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 2 years of relevant component level electrical design experience preferred\nProven experience in the original drafting of both internal testing documentation and external customer-based certification and operational documentation\nField engineering experience preferred\nSchematic capture experience with OrCAD Capture preferred\nPCB layout experience preferred\nAerospace or military electronics design experience preferred\nAerospace (DO-160) or military (MIL-461) qualification and lab testing experience preferred\nIndependent program management experience preferred\nDevelopment of new electronic designs at the architectural level preferred\nKnowledge of AC and DC power circuits / power supply design / lighting circuit design preferred\nQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS\nBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering\nA demonstrated professional knowledge of the engineering skills relevant to this position\nMust be a motivated self-starter willing to take on job responsibilities with minimal guidance\nShould be able to demonstrate previous examples of autonomous task execution\nShould be able to demonstrate an ability to drive assigned tasks to a positive outcome in an expedient manner\nShould be able to demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills\nAn ability to identify and mitigate project/design risks\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills\nDemonstrated experience interfacing with customers\nDemonstrated experience with authoring original documents such as technical specifications, test procedures, new product descriptions, operating manuals, proposals, etc.\nAn ability to travel worldwide at reasonable notice to support project execution\nMust be able to work well with others and support a team dynamic\nTo conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772, incumbents for this role must be eligible for any required authorizations from the US government.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nMust be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:\nPosition may require person to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environments on a frequent basis.
