Substance Abuse Counselor
Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients struggling with substance abuse issues
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans
- Develop and implement treatment goals and interventions
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records
- Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in substance abuse treatment
Skills:
- Data collection: Ability to gather and analyze relevant information for treatment planning and evaluation purposes
- ICD-9: Familiarity with the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, for accurate diagnosis coding
- Patient care: Provide compassionate care to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders
- Behavioral health: Knowledge of psychological, emotional, and behavioral factors related to substance abuse
- Medical terminology: Understanding of medical terms and abbreviations commonly used in substance abuse treatment settings
- ICD-10: Proficiency in using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, for accurate diagnosis coding
- PTSD Care: Ability to provide specialized care for individuals with co-occurring post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse disorders
- Clinical counseling: Utilize evidence-based counseling techniques to support clients in their recovery journey
- Case management: Coordinate resources and services to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Applied behavior analysis: Apply principles of behavior analysis to address maladaptive behaviors associated with substance abuse

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- State licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor
- Experience working in a substance abuse treatment setting
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
