We take a balanced, tailored approach to solving unique organizational challenges while leveraging industry best practices for long-term success.\nThis position supports a mission-critical federal enterprise integration environment transforming a centralized API onboarding model into a secure, automated, developer self-service capability.\nPosition Overview\nJob Type: Full-Time\nLocation: Remote (U.S.) with occasional on-site meetings in the Washington, DC area\nTarget Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 / year (Note: Final offer is subject to candidate experience and expectations)\nPosition Contingency: Contingent upon contract award (Anticipated award: September 2026; Estimated start date: November 17, 2026)\nAs an API Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and validate automated workflows, developer portal capabilities, and governance-integrated pipelines to automate API registration, access approvals, and configuration provisioning.\nKey Responsibilities\nSelf-Service & Portal: Build developer self-service capabilities, including a searchable developer portal with API documentation, specifications, and access request workflows.\nWorkflow Automation: Design and implement automated API onboarding workflows integrated into enterprise CI/CD pipelines.\nIAM & Security: Integrate the portal with enterprise identity management systems (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC) and enforce role-based access control (RBAC).\nGovernance Gates: Implement automated validation gates for OpenAPI/Swagger specification quality, governance compliance, security controls, and Section 508 accessibility.\nConfiguration-as-Code: Develop reusable pipeline components and configuration-as-code for gateway onboarding and migration lanes.\nQualifications & Requirements\nExperience:\nAt least 6 years of software development or platform automation experience.\nAt least 3 years building API lifecycle, gateway, or developer platform automation in enterprise environments.\nTechnical Expertise:\nCI/CD toolchains (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and configuration-as-code/IaC.\nOpenAPI/Swagger tooling, linting, and automated governance validation.\nScripting in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.\nDeveloper portal platforms and IAM integration (OAuth 2.0/OIDC).\nClearance & Security:\nMust possess U.S. work authorization.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a federal Moderate Risk Public Trust (MBI level) background investigation.\nOur Hiring Process\nSubmit Application: Apply directly on Indeed with your updated resume.\nSalary & Contingency Confirmation: State your expected salary range and confirm your availability for a contingent start in November 2026.\nAlex AI Assessment: Complete an automated AI assessment interview through Alex AI.
