Job DescriptionContract Surety Underwriting ManagerJob SummarySeeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Surety Underwriting Manager to join a dynamic underwriting team. This role involves managing routine underwriting responsibilities, including financial and account analysis, bond renewal preparation, and maintaining strong agency relationships. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Contract Surety industry and possess exceptional analytical and communication skills.Compensation PackageCompetitive salary (commensurate with experience).Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.ResponsibilitiesConduct financial and account analysis of pertinent data to evaluate new, existing, and renewal business.Request and gather financial information on assigned accounts.Prepare bond renewals and determine whether bonds should be canceled.Maintain and foster strong agency relationships, providing exceptional service and support.Underwrite low-value bonds and renewals within authority limits.Provide direction to Bond Underwriting Assistants for bond processing.Deliver quality recommendations to Branch and Home Office Reports on assigned accounts and agents.Rate and review bonds for premium and classification accuracy.Ensure accuracy and completeness of files, verifying all necessary documentation is included.Act as the primary service contact for assigned agents, including in-person visits to maintain ongoing relationships.Communicate knowledge of assigned accounts effectively to Branch and Home Office personnel through written and verbal means.Prioritize workflow to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks.Perform other job-related duties as required.Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or a related field with at least 7 years of experience in Surety, or equivalent experience (11 years of Surety experience).In-depth knowledge of the Contract Surety industry and advanced analytical skills, with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts to achieve optimal risk pricing.Creative problem-solving skills to utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance to meet company objectives.Strong communication and relationship-building skills to effectively interact with agents, underwriters, and internal teams.
