Assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs. Stock merchandise adequately. Perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, while protecting company assets.\n\nDUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\n\nUnload trucks.\nFollow company work processes to receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in stock room or move directly to sales floor.\nBuild merchandise displays.\nStock merchandise; rotate and face merchandise on shelves.\nRestock recovered merchandise.\nAssist customers by locating merchandise.\nBail cardboard and take out trash; dust and mop store floors; clean restroom and stockroom.\nComply with company policies and procedures.\nGreet customers.\nOperate cash register and flatbed scanner to itemize and total customer's purchase; bag merchandise.\nCollect payment from customer and make change.\nAssist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners, as needed.\nClean front end of store and help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.\nQualifications:\nKNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:\nEffective interpersonal and oral communication skills.\nUnderstanding of safety policies and practices.\nAbility to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.\nKnowledge of basic cash handling procedures.\nBasic mathematical skills.\nAbility to perform IBM cash register functions.\nWORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nFrequent walking and standing\nFrequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run check out station, stock merchandise and unload trucks; which may also require the ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise\nFrequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers\nFrequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds\nOccasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet\nFast-paced environment; moderate noise level\nOccasional exposure to outside weather conditions\nRelocation assistance is not available for this position.\n\nDollar General is pleased to offer a wide range of benefit programs designed to care for the physical, mental and financial well-being of our employees and their families.
