More information is available at www.hawcdv.org.General DescriptionHAWC is seeking to hire multiple individuals to provide on-site support to participants within our Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter Program. Multiple shifts are available. Candidates may apply for multiple shifts. Shifts are scheduled on a regular, ongoing basis. Additional per diem shifts may also be available to provide as-needed coverage.Current Available ShiftsEvery-other weekend Per Diem: Saturday and/or Sunday 8am-8pm, 8am-2pm or 2pm-8pm Overnight coverage: 8pm-8am, various days of the weekGeneral Per Diem Staff (will be contacted for available shifts): Varied schedule, as neededThese part-time positions are paid hourly. Compensation for these positions is $18.82/hour, or $19.57/hour for employees with relevant bilingual language skills. Employees working at least 20 regularly scheduled hours per week are eligible for prorated employee benefits (see below).The Overnight and Per Diem Staff positions provide critical support and services to survivors of domestic abuse and their families living in HAWC’s emergency shelter. Primary responsibilities include ensuring participant safety through adherence to shelter policies and protocols, providing support and guidance to shelter participants and hotline callers, responding to and communicating shelter participants’ needs to fellow HAWC staff and Shelter Asst. Director as appropriate and light cleaning. These roles participate in coverage of HAWC’s 24/7 Emergency Hotline, responding to calls that come in to the hotline.The Overnight staff is permitted to sleep in a designated staff room during portions of this shift if safe and appropriate to do so, while prioritizing position duties and participant needs.Summary of Benefits (prorated for employees regularly scheduled for 20+ hours per week):3 weeks of vacation per year during first year; increases at year 5, carryover of 2 weeks13 Holidays off per year13 Sick days per year5 Personal days per year70% Paid Family & Medical Leave paid by HAWC401K planQualifications And RequirementsA commitment to empowering and supporting survivors of domestic abuseExperience in crisis interventionActive listening skillsGood organizational and prioritization skillsReliability with scheduling and availabilityAbility to collaboratively problem-solve with participants and other team membersDemonstrated competency and respectfulness in working with clients and staff members from diverse cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to effectively use internet-based programs and websites, such as GSuite, email, search engines and the agency client databaseBilingual/Bicultural skills and experience preferredPosition ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safety of shelter participants and staff through adherence to HAWC shelter policies and protocolsProvide trauma-informed direct support to participant adults and children as neededDocument participant interactions and hotline calls in agency databaseReview and maintain program shift log, documenting any participant updates, crisis intervention, safety concerns and maintenance concerns in log at the end of every shiftProvide oral updates to fellow HAWC staff at shift changes. Communicate as necessary via email and phone with other staff and leadership regarding any necessary follow-upMonitor security system for awareness of participants’ presence and needs within the shelter building and overall safetyProvide direct hotline coverage during scheduled work hours, including documentation in agency databaseConduct screening and intakes for new shelter participants Prepare, clean and inspect rooms before participant entry and after exitOrganize and inventory shelter resources available for participant needs, including bedding, food, clothing and toiletriesEnsure cleanliness of staff office, office fridge, staff bathroom, stairways and basement storage areaAttend regular supervision and trainings, traveling as necessary to other HAWC offices Participate in 30-hour HAWC pre-service orientation trainingHAWC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
