The teacher develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to support academic, functional, social-emotional, communication, and daily living skills while fostering student independence and inclusion whenever appropriate. QualificationsValid Ohio Intervention Specialist License with Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive credentials appropriate for assignmentMultiple Disabilities endorsement preferred or willingness to obtainKnowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirementsExperience working with students with significant disabilities preferredCPI, de-escalation, or behavior intervention training preferredAbility to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and related service providers Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulationsProvide direct specialized instruction aligned to student goals and Ohio Learning StandardsAdapt curriculum, instructional methods, and classroom materials to meet individual student needsImplement behavior intervention plans and positive behavioral supportsSupport students with communication, social, emotional, motor, adaptive, and daily living skillsCollaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, school psychologists, and related service providersSupervise and direct paraprofessional staff assigned to the Specialized Skills UnitUtilize assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies as appropriateMaintain accurate student records, progress monitoring data, Medicaid documentation, and compliance paperworkParticipate in IEP meetings, evaluation team reports, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary meetingsMaintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environmentAssist students with personal care needs as required by student IEPsCommunicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needsParticipate in professional development and district training opportunitiesPerform other duties as assigned by the administration Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong understanding of differentiated instruction and specially designed instructionAbility to manage and support diverse behavioral and learning needsStrong communication, organizational, and collaboration skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalismKnowledge of assistive technology, AAC devices, and adaptive equipment preferredAbility to physically assist students as needed for safety, mobility, and daily care Working ConditionsClassroom setting with students requiring varying levels of academic, behavioral, medical, and physical supportMay require lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility and personal care needsExposure to student behaviors that may require physical intervention training Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy, Ohio law, and district administrative procedures.
