Part-time Enrichment Instructor for Students with Special Needs

THIS JOB IS IN-PERSON IN Lawrence Athena Coding is looking for a Special Needs Educator to teach a Special Education kindergarten class about rhythm & drumming. The class meets on Fridays from 8:30-9:30 AM, with multiple aides in the classroom to assist with the group of 3-7 students. The instruction will primarily consist of rhythm games, sensory and motor activities, and interactive music-based exercises designed to develop coordination, listening skills, and group participation. Activities may include call-and-response drumming, exploring various percussion instruments, integrating movement with rhythm, and using storytelling or visual aids to enhance engagement and comprehension. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children with developmental disabilities, knowledge of adaptive teaching methods, and the ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and joyful learning environment. Responsibilities include planning and leading engaging 30-45 minute sessions, collaborating with classroom aides to adapt activities as needed, and fostering a positive experience for all participants. Additional hours may be available for teaching other classes; however, a stronger music background may be required for these roles. Qualifications: Background in special education, music education, or a related field. Familiarity with adaptive music techniques and sensory integration strategies. Patience, creativity, and a passion for helping students succeed. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling. All materials will be provided by the company.
