This is a Authorized & Unauthorized Biologist role, ideal for individuals who thrive in hands on environments, enjoy supporting diverse field operations, and want flexible opportunities.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\n\nNone.\nDuties/Responsibilities:\n\nConduct terrestrial biological monitoring for construction and restoration projects\nPerform biological surveys including tortoise surveys, population surveys, and associated field work with tortoise relocation projects.\nMaintain accurate field notes, maps, and project documentation\nManage your workload and coordinate schedules with project managers\nDeliver high-quality work products on time and within budget\nRequired Skills/Abilities:\n\nBachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or related field\nMinimum 2 years of professional terrestrial biology experience (environmental consulting required)\nExperience with Mojave Desert Tortoise\nExperience with construction monitoring and/or conducting field surveys, including tortoise surveys\nValid recovery USFWS permits for listed species (Mojave Desert Tortoise)\nValid Scientific Collecting Permit (SCP) from CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife\nPreviously approved by CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife as a Designated Biologist on projects\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\nProficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.\nProficient in Microsoft Office 365 or similar software.\nAbility to work away from primary work location in excess of normal work day\nAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions\nValid California Driver's License with a clean driving record\nEducation and Experience:\n\nBachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or related field\nExperience with Mojave Desert Tortoise\nExperience preparing biological monitoring reports\nExperience conducting surveys and monitoring for wildlife species in Southern California\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nPhysically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.\nAbility to hike long distances over varied terrain and weather conditions\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nAbility to operate a company truck while onsite.\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
