This role will be part of an existing customer software team that develops, enhances, and maintains engineering applications and tools.\n\nThis position primarily focuses on Python software development and writing original application code. The ideal candidate will have a solid software development foundation and strong Python skills. Deep front-end web development or database expertise is not required.\n\nThis is a hybrid position. The selected candidate will work both remotely and at the customer site, with increased onsite presence expected during the initial onboarding and integration period, anticipated to be approximately 2–4 weeks. Ongoing onsite presence will be based on project and customer needs.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications using Python\nDevelop original application code to meet engineering and customer requirements\nWork within an existing customer software development team to implement new capabilities and enhancements\nTranslate engineering and user requirements into functional software solutions\nDebug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues\nParticipate in code reviews, testing, configuration management, and software release activities\nFollow established software development practices and customer processes\nCollaborate with engineers, software developers, and customer stakeholders\nDevelop maintainable, documented, and reusable code\nSupport application integration and testing as required\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline\nExperience developing software applications using Python\nUnderstanding of software development principles and the software development lifecycle\nExperience writing, debugging, testing, and maintaining original application code\nExperience with source/version control tools such as Git\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills\nAbility to work effectively as part of a collaborative software development team\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nUS Citizen\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience developing engineering or technical software applications\nExperience working in aerospace, defense, or other engineering environments\nExperience with Agile software development\nFamiliarity with automated testing and software configuration management\nExperience with REST APIs, databases, or web-based applications\nExposure to engineering analysis or Model-Based Systems Engineering environments\nAbility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance\n\nThe QDSS Advantage:\n\nAt QDSS, our advantage is purpose-driven work, collaborative teams, and complex challenges that push boundaries and build lasting impact.
