Act as a technical lead for the following mechanical engineering functions:\n\nAssembly design\n\nPlastic and metal part design\n\nTolerance studies\n\nDesign for manufacturability/assembly\n\nComponent selection and specification\n\nThermal analysis and design\n\nMechanical shock and vibration analysis\n\nImproving existing products\n\n2. Direct the efforts of Engineers or Technicians; coordinate engineering activities with Purchasing and Manufacturing.\n\n3. Execute hardware projects of high complexity.\n\n4. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. Provide accurate labor and material estimates.\n\n5. Review, support, approve and provide recommendations for improvements to documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design.\n\n6. Write comprehensive test plans, conduct detailed design validation tests and review results.\n\n7. Maintain current and accurate project notebooks.\n\n8. Mentor ME Interns, Designers, and Associate MEs, and MEs\n\n9. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.\n\n10. Understand. Create. Simplify.\n\n11. Other duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nB.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.\n\n6+ years’ experience in:\n\nComputer-aided design; SolidWorks preferred\n\nElectronic manufacturing techniques\n\nTechnical expertise in two or more of the following areas:\n\nHeat transfer/electronics cooling\n\nMaterial selection and fabrication technologies\n\nDesign for manufacturability\n\nMechanics\n\nElectromechanical packaging design\n\nWorking knowledge of project management processes and procedures\n\nDemonstrated leadership and problem solving skills\n\nStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skills\nAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities\nAbility to work cooperatively in a team environment\nBackground check results satisfactory to SEL\nNegative drug test result(s)\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nAutomated Test Equipment (ATE) design experience\n\nFactory automation experience\n\nProduct-level automated test experience\n\nICT “bed of nails” fixture design experience\n\n19” server rack mechanical layout and design\n\nStructural finite element analysis; Ansys Mechanical preferred\n\nComputational fluid dynamics; Ansys Icepak preferred\n\nUnderstanding and application of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles\n\nPlastic injection molded part design\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nNone\n\nCompetitive pay.
