Hotel Maintenance Engineer
Job Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, service, and repair of hotel equipment, facilities, and grounds. This role supports the overall upkeep of the property by completing assigned work orders, responding to guest requests, and actively participating in the hotel’s preventive maintenance program. Responsibilities may also include periodically driving the airport shuttle as needed. The Maintenance Engineer performs a variety of skilled trade tasks—such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work—while delivering excellent service to guests, clients, and coworkers.

Service Attitude & Communication
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming; wear name tag while on duty
Demonstrate a professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor at all times
Provide attentive, efficient, and respectful service to guests, clients, managers, and coworkers
Comply with all hotel policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Foster positive communication and teamwork with all departments
Leave maintenance documentation in guest rooms upon completion of work
Maintain a team-oriented attitude in support of hotel operations
Maintenance Responsibilities
Maintain the physical structure and grounds of the hotel in excellent condition, including landscaping, walkways, pool areas, and sports courts
Operate two-way radios, telephones, and maintenance equipment professionally
Perform interior and exterior maintenance, including carpentry repairs, painting, and general facility upkeep
Complete maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, including but not limited to:
Light bulb replacement
Vinyl and tile repairs
Touch-up painting
Minor furniture repair
Tub caulking
Maintain and service hotel equipment such as ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen and laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guest rooms, meeting rooms, public spaces, pool, and spa
Demonstrate functional knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems
Perform Suite Care Program tasks to ensure guest satisfaction
Test and log pool and spa chemical levels routinely
Conduct regular inspections of the hotel exterior for trash, debris, lighting, and irrigation issues
General Responsibilities
Participate in employee meetings, training sessions, and hotel events as required
Adhere to all safety and compliance standards to ensure efficient hotel operations
Maintain familiarity with hotel policies, procedures, and terminology
Practice workplace safety by identifying and correcting hazards and using proper protective equipment
Follow all chemical handling and safety guidelines
Participate in the on-call emergency rotation
Perform departmental housekeeping duties
Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements
Ability to work long hours when required
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
Ability to reach overhead, bend, stoop, kneel, and use both hands effectively
Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment
Ability to climb and descend stairs throughout the shift
Mental Requirements
Ability to understand and follow instructions, guidelines, and work objectives
Knowledge of potential hazards and proper procedures related to commercial cleaning agents and machinery
Use sound judgment and integrity when working in guest rooms and handling guest belongings
Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify, prevent, and resolve workplace issues
Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by guests and coworkers
Must obtain and maintain all licenses or certifications required by law
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
Working knowledge of machinery, tools, computers, and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
Strong verbal communication skills with guests and staff
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
