NYS Speech & Hearing Certification\n2. Teacher of Speech & Hearing Handicapped Certificate\n3. NYS License (ASHA Certification) preferable\n\nRESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Special Education\n\nJOB GOALS: To identify specific speech/language deficits in students. To reduce or\neliminate speech and hearing delays that interfere with the student's ability to derive full\nbenefit of their educational program.\n\nGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nA. To conduct speech and language evaluations of students referred by parents,\nPrincipals, or the Director of Special Education and provide results and reports in a\ntimely fashion.\nB. To meet with parents of referred students to review speech and language\nevaluations.\nC. To conduct classroom observations of students, as required.\nD. To conduct other assessments and screenings as needed including Pre-\nKindergarten.\nE. To be a resource for district employees for information relating to a student's\ndiagnosis or disability and offer suggestions on ways to better facilitate learning for\nstudents.\nF.To attend CSE, CPSE, and 504 committees, as needed.\nG. To provide individual and/or small group therapy sessions to students.\nH. To make referrals to local and regional agencies, as needed.\nI.To maintain confidentiality.\nJ.To establish and maintain cooperative, positive relationships with those contacted in\nthe course of work.\nK. To carry out other duties as required by the Director of Special Education and\nDepartment Chair.\nL. To assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and\nBoard of Education policy.\nM.
