Must be local to Maryland, DC, or Virginia area or be willing to relocate\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, architect, and build databases based on business requirements.\nManage databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and other industry databases) in Production/QA/Dev environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, schema changes, patches, performance optimization, etc.\nContinuously evaluate the infrastructure for opportunities for optimization.\nAct as SME for customer-facing project delivery for business intelligence data management, and data analytics projects aimed at government – Federal, State, and Local\nProvide team technical leadership, coach co-workers and provide feedback to enhance the teams skills and knowledge\nDevelop a process for optimizing database security.\nPerform capacity-planning exercises to properly identify required hardware, software, and database configuration/architecture necessary to support application needs.\nWrite and troubleshoot complex scripts.\nDeliver projects that focus on data warehousing, business intelligence, reporting, data management, and advanced analytics including R or python.\nWork closely with Engineering teams on database design changes to meet evolving business requirements.\nInteract with Developers, Operations, and other stakeholders to identify system enhancements, resolve problems, and continuously improve Operational stability in all environments.\nProvide best practices on design, availability, replication, security, audit, and backup/recovery methodologies.\nWork with functional and technical project team members to deliver products in an agile manner.\nDirect the administration and use of current and emerging database tools, strategies, and technologies.\nDocument reoccurring operational tasks for transition to the Service Operations team for initial support and troubleshooting.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\n8+ years of experience designing, developing and managing enterprise-level databases using relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, and MS SQL Server\n2+ years of experience with Data Warehouse, Data Management, Reporting, Governance, and Dashboard development\n2+ years of experience with ETL tools such as Informatica\n2+ years of experience with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau and Power BI\nExperience delivering solutions using Agile delivery practices.\nSolid understanding of CI/CD pipeline\nExperience with improving performance on enterprise applications with large data.\nExperience in Test Driven and Behavior Driven development frameworks.\nFamiliarity with revision control systems such as Git/GitHub\nExperience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and other Cloud Platforms\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business intelligence, economics, statistics, or mathematics\nReady to embrace a fast-paced work environment with deadlines and new challenges.\nStrong communication and teamwork abilities\nSound judgment, a positive attitude, and a creative outlook are required.\nNIH experience preferred\nBenefits\n100% Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage for Employees\nEducational Benefits for Career Growth\nPaid Time Off (including Holidays)\nEmployee Referral Bonus\nProfit Sharing\n401k matching\nFlexible Spending Accounts:\nHealthcare (FSA)\nParking Reimbursement Account (PRK)\nDependent Care Assistant Program (DCAP)\nTransportation Reimbursement Account (TRN)\nThe diversity of Axle’s employees is a tremendous asset.
