Mechanical Design Engineer
What to Expect
Tesla’s Factory Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in building our Texas Gigafactory. Help create and optimize the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, produce cutting-edge detailed design of mechanical systems and other factory utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. This permanent, full-time position is in Austin, TX.
What You'll Do
Mechanical system engineering design from conceptual design through construction administration
Coordinating with multiple disciplines to ensure projects are delivered within budget and schedule
Research and contribute with innovative and traditional ideas to solve challenging and difficult engineering problems
Provide basis of design, sequence of operation and design contract drawings
Coordinate design between different disciplines and perform construction administration to ensure correct installation
What You'll Bring
7+ years’ experience designing and or construction of HVAC or industrial mechanical systems
Knowledge in chiller plant, boiler plant, piping and ductwork design, HVAC load calculations, and industrial exhaust system design. Plumbing or fire sprinkler system design experience is a plus
Working towards Professional Engineer registration for Texas
Working knowledge in the use of following applications Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, engineering calculation tools and equipment selection software
Familiar with International Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA 68, 69, 72, 90A, 90B and 92 standards, SMACNA duct construction standards, ACGIH Ventilation Practices, and ASHRAE
Construction administration experience
Problem solving skills in a fast paced environment
