This role is responsible for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements, and partnering cross-functionally to identify, assess, and mitigate process-related risks.\n\nResponsibilities\nProcess Safety & Risk Management\n\nIdentify, assess, and mitigate process hazards through effective risk management strategies and safety programs.\n\nLead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for existing and new processes, ensuring timely resolution of findings and recommendations.\n\nEvaluate new and modified processes, equipment, and facility changes to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.\n\nProvide oversight of the site's Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure operational and safety risks are properly assessed and controlled.\n\nManage the site PHA schedule and drive implementation of corrective actions and recommendations.\n\nProgram Development & Compliance\n\nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve High Hazard and Process Safety Management (HH/PSM) programs.\n\nEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including both leading and lagging metrics, to measure program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.\n\nEnsure compliance with applicable EHS regulations, industry standards, and company policies.\n\nMaintain technical expertise in HH/PSM requirements and proactively assess the impact of evolving regulations on site operations.\n\nIncident Prevention & Investigation\n\nLead and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents, process upsets, and near misses across both facilities.\n\nOversee and conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) for new and modified processes, equipment, and capital projects.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve process safety performance and prevent future incidents.\n\nCross-Functional Collaboration\n\nPartner with Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, and Operations teams to develop and evaluate maintenance strategies for high-hazard operations and specialized equipment.\n\nCollaborate with site teams to implement EHS and PSM-related procedures, programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nServe as a site representative during interactions with regulatory agencies, permitting authorities, and insurance providers.\n\nParticipate as an active member of the broader HH/PSM network, sharing best practices and driving standardization across the organization.\n\nTraining & Leadership\n\nDevelop and deliver technical training programs to strengthen site knowledge and compliance with HH/PSM requirements.\n\nMentor site personnel and provide guidance to leadership teams on process safety and risk management matters.\n\nFoster a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and continuous learning.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Process Engineering, or equivalent.\n\n3 years leading EHS processes in a manufacturing environment.\n\nMinimal travel to other company sites, as well as professional conferences may be required.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n3 years in a PSM or RMP regulated environment.\n\nExperience in Fire Loss and Prevention activities including involvement with insurance carrier.\n\nProfessional Skills & Key Competencies\n\nTroubleshooting / Problem Solving - Advanced Safety & Ergonomics Expertise\n\nProject Management\n\nQuality Systems Knowledge\n\nLogistics & Planning Knowledge\n\nWork Environment\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.\n\nThe employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment required to perform this job safely.\n\nWill be working with Flammable Liquids, Ethylene Oxide Sterilizer and possible combustible dust.\n\nAt BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
