The University has six academic schools, including Georgia's flagship aviation program, that support its mission to educate and graduate inspired, lifelong learners whose scholarship and careers enhance the state.Job SummaryThis position ensures the safety of patrons of the Middle Georgia State University aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies, during the months of pool operation.ResponsibilitiesMaintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by head lifeguard or Director.Required QualificationsMust be a currently enrolled Middle Georgia State University StudentMust be enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semesterMust have a GPA of 2.0 or greaterThis position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hireMust have American Red Cross CPR and AED certification within 30 days of hire.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesThis position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hireKnowledge of university rules and procedures.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
