You will adhere to a traditional daily schedule but will also enjoy flexibility with core hours.\n\nThis role aligns to industry level title such as Editorial Services Manager.\n\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:\n\nManage, coach, and develop a team of editors including work assignments, performance feedback, onboarding, training, and professional development.\n\nOversee editorial and production workflows for teacher assessment exams, study guides, practice materials, item banks, and related deliverables.\n\nPlan team capacity, prioritize competing deliverables, and monitor schedules to ensure accurate, timely completion of work across multiple programs and projects.\n\nEnsure editorial and production work follows applicable client requirements, style guides, accessibility expectations, quality standards, and security protocols.\n\nPartner with content developers, assessment specialists, psychometricians, project managers, publishing teams, and client-facing groups to clarify requirements and resolve questions or blockers.\n\nReview project status, identify risks, escalate issues when appropriate, and implement mitigation plans to protect schedules and deliverable quality.\n\nSupport quality control activities, including proofreading, copyediting, metadata review, item accounting checks, formatting validation, and final production review.\n\nMaintain and improve documented procedures, templates, tracking tools, and job logs to support consistency, efficiency, and knowledge transfer.\n\nAnalyze workflow data, recurring defects, and feedback to recommend process improvements and strengthen team performance.\n\nPromote a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and service to educators and learners.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n\nBachelor’s degree in English, education, publishing, communications, assessment, instructional content, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.\n\nFive or more years of experience in editorial, assessment, publishing, production, educational content, or related environment.\n\nThree or more years of experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating the work of editors, technicians, production staff, or cross-functional project teams.\n\nExperience managing multiple complex deliverables with competing timelines and quality requirements.\n\nDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply style guides, client requirements, process documentation, and quality standards.\n\nExperience with high-stakes assessment, educator licensure, certification exams, educational publishing, or item banking systems preferred.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools; experience with databases, content management systems, or proprietary publishing platforms preferred.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction, document decisions, and communicate risks or recommendations.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\n\nKnowledge of editorial standards, copyediting practices, proofreading conventions, production workflows, and quality control methods.\n\nKnowledge of assessment development principles, teacher licensure or certification contexts, item banking, test production, and secure exam handling preferred.\n\nSkill in leading teams, assigning work, balancing capacity, monitoring progress, and keeping projects on schedule.\n\nSkill in analyzing work processes, identifying root causes of errors or delays, and implementing practical improvements.\n\nSkill in communicating clearly with technical, editorial, content, and business stakeholders.\n\nAbility to make sound decisions under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality.\n\nAbility to coach staff through complex editorial or production questions and support consistent application of procedures.\n\nAbility to navigate ambiguity, adjust priorities, and support change in a collaborative and professional manner.\n\nAbility to use data, documentation, and team feedback to strengthen quality, efficiency, and accountability.\n\nCompensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
