Base Administrator (DBA)","description":"We are going to build a 24x7 DBA service line within our Managed Services team, with experience in management (Service Now or similar) and ticket systems.Proposed Shift Hours in Eastern USA times (will have to adjust for Daylight Savings Time):9am – 6pm5pm – 1am1am – 10amGeneral day to day responsibilities:Extremely strong written & spoken English (there will be client interaction on a daily basis which will require very strong English skills)Ability to work independentlyProvision, install, upgrade, and manage databases across various environments, including on-premises and Cloud (Azure) solutions, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.Collaborate in documenting, updating, and communicating key processes and documentation within the database environment.Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, integration challenges, and other database-related concerns promptly and effectively.Determine the best placement of databases in on-premises or Cloud solutions based on performance, security, and scalability requirements.Implement and maintain best practices for database administration, including backups, security measures, and disaster recovery strategies.Provide transactional support for applications and assist in defining non-production environments for testing and development purposes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new processes, change management, and problem management strategies related to the database ecosystem.Database Administration proficiency with at least following RDBMS platforms: MS SQL ServerExperience with:Database administration tools used for data management and design (such as SQL Developer, etc.)Support and troubleshooting of Microsoft SQL ServerIntegration of BI (PowerBI, SSIS), Reporting (SSRS), and Analytic tools with DBMS platformsSupporting large data warehousesSQL clustering troubleshootingData transformation and integrationAzure Database technologiesLeverage Logic Monitor for monitoring and alertingService Now fundamentalAbility to:Plan and install database software and database systemsDevelop tools, utilities, and procedures to automate maintenance functionsDevelop database stored procedures and triggersDefine and develop tests for verification and validation of database solutions and installationsKnowledge of:Database performance tuning techniques and tools, with ability to debug and tune SQL including T-SQL queries.Database backup and recovery techniques and tools, HA/Replication and disaster recoveryHardware and operating systems (Linux and Windows) including scripting, file management, and server securityDatabase modeling including both logical and physical design and referential integrity conceptsSoftware
