Position plays a key role in improving R&E efficiency for Caterpillar organization by driving synergies between base machine development and Autonomous development. Will work on multiple NPI programs with multi-year outlook to develop efficient validation plans. Here, you can do the work that matters.\"Why this Role?- Work at Machine (L6) level and gain high visibility across the organization- Cross functional / working across the matrix opportunity – Will work with Autonomous product team, LMT product team, Proving Grounds testing facility and Cat Technology teams.- Opportunity to work end-to-end controls development and optimization – Requirements development through proving ground and field validation- Work in Rigid Frame Trucks Performance and Controls engineering team along side machine & application experts.Typical task breakdown:- Work with various L6-L8 teams to understand configuration variations and developing detailed strategic test plans to minimize repetition of tests on multiple machines as well as repetition of tests- Understand the current TPG testing/tuning activities and develop clear requirements for VPD, SIL and HIL with the objective to reduce/eliminate the TPG testing/tuning activities for multiple in-progress/future programs- Participate in validation workshops for AHS as well as base machine programs and provide data collection requirements for model correlation- Support controls and software validation activities for various programs as neededInteraction with team:- working with other business units within CAT and internal teams.Team Structure:- 3-5 member teamEducation & Experience Required:- Years of experience: Minimum 5-7 years in this capacity is a must- Previous CAT experience is highly preferred- Degree requirement: Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Engineering, Physics, CS or related field- Do you accept internships as job experience: Yes- Are there past or additional job titles or roles that would provide comparable background to this role: NoTop 3 Skills:- Controls software development and/or testing experience- Machine/Vehicle level engineering experience, preferably in machine performance, controls, testing or simulation areas (one or more)- Familiarity with Mining Trucks operation and the applicationAdditional Technical Skills (Required):- Experience with machine controls, software, testing and simulation methodsAdditional Technical Skills (Desired):- Caterpillar Large Mining Trucks and Off Highway trucks knowledge.
