The primary role of the Senior Security Engineer is to ensure that the respective business, application, data, and technology solutions are in line with the organization’s technology and governance strategies, policies and standards.\n\nFocus Areas and Specialties:\n\nThe Senior Security Engineer role focuses in the Security and Applied Networking aspects of enterprise engineering design, implementation and deployment. Specifically, the ideal candidate should be skilled in the following:\n\nCybersecurity concepts including Zero trust models, Cyber threat protections (ATP), data protection, loT/OT, firewalls, IPS, Proxy servers and overall security-minded architectures.\nAdvanced security solutions and technologies including data loss prevention, on-prem and cloud proxy, secure service edge, web application firewall, zero trust and remote access.\nPlatform experience with the following:\nPalo Alto and Fortinet firewalls\nZscaler zero trust and proxy solutions\nMicrosoft, Palo Alto and Zscaler remote access solutions\nIntrusion Prevention / Detection System\nCloudflare, Akamai CDN and WAF technologies\nVoice and data networks and virtualized networking.\nLAN/WAN technologies including MPLS, private line, Internet, cloud, SDWAN and SASE.\nDNS security and hygiene.\nDatacenter technologies and enterprise routing are a plus.\n\nMain Duties:\n\nLead in activities related to the design, development, communication, and maintenance of advanced security solutions.\nPartner with managed service providers to ensure the continuous and optimal performance security solutions through regular maintenance activities, updates, and patches.\nAssist with the investigation and response to security incidents by partnering with HP cybersecurity team(s) to analyze incidents for validity (e.g., eliminate false positives), when appropriate.\nRecommend, implement, and maintain security policies, providing continuous improvement based on best practices.\nMonitor DLP alerts and events, analyze trends, and generate regular reports; provide insights and recommendations to enhance data protection strategies.\nWork with IT Architecture to research overall security technology, platforms and vendors to recommend best-in-breed solutions based technical requirements and business needs.\nWork closely with cross-functional teams, including IT architecture, IT support, cybersecurity, and compliance, to integrate security solutions into higher-level security or IT architectures.\nCollaborate with vendor account teams to understand and implement new security enhancements as needed to bolster HP’s overall security posture.\nConduct training sessions for cross-functional teams on relevant security solutions, best practices and features.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.\nConduct and/or participate in meetings related to designated programs.\nAdvise and recommend architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies.\nRecommend and participate in the analysis, evaluation, and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the IT objectives are consistent with the enterprise’s long-term business objectives.\nShare best practices, lessons learned and experience with IT / Cyber teams and update technical documentation, as needed, based on current or future implementations.\nParticipate in (and possibly manage) security architecture working groups and act as a mentor to peers.\nCollaborate with all relevant parties to review the objectives and constraints of each security solution, determine compliance with existing network architecture standards and recommend the most suitable technical architecture.\nIdentify and recommend areas appropriate for further study and participate in any Proof-of-Concept projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural possibilities.\nIdentify, analyze, and communicate potential implementation risks and possible impact to the enterprise for any pending or scheduled change or implementation related to managed security solutions.\nServe as escalation point and subject matter expert related to Major Incidents and operational issues within the Security tower or in other towers as appropriate.\nAssist in building financial cases for architectural directions related to relevant security solutions or architectures, including total cost of ownership and the return on investment.\n\nOther Duties and Qualities of a Successful Candidate:\n\nThe ideal candidate will be a collaborative, hands-on self-starter with strong communication, leadership and organizational skills, as well as possess a healthy balance of business acumen and technically competency.
