This is a unique opportunity to shape blockchain engineering practices at a market-leading company while working on cutting-edge solutions that power institutional digital asset operations.\r\nAs a Blockchain Engineer, you will be instrumental in the research and integration of blockchain technologies into the Fireblocks platform. Your responsibilities include collaborating closely with foundations and developers to gain a deep understanding of blockchain protocols and on-chain projects. This knowledge will then be applied to implement new features within the Fireblocks platform.\r\nYou will focus equally on external protocol integration patterns and internal wallet infrastructure. This role serves as a technical bridge between raw on-chain integrated capabilities and the valuable wallet features delivered to customers.\r\nThis role will report into our Senior Director, Wallet Technology. Our team works in a hybrid model with three days in our NYC office.\r\nWhat You'll Do\r\nResearch and prototype new blockchain features including Layer2 solutions, cross-chain bridges, and DeFi protocols\r\nDesign and implement secure, scalable blockchain solutions that integrate with Fireblocks' existing infrastructure\r\nRepresent the company's interests and provide structured feedback to foundations on protocol design, tooling, and support\r\nAdvocate for features or changes that would benefit the wallet infrastructure and its users\r\nEstablish strong partnerships with blockchain foundations, vendors, builders, and customers to address challenges, implement solutions, and ensure we are building the right blockchain integrations\r\nCollaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to define technical requirements for blockchain initiatives\r\nMentor and guide other engineers on blockchain technologies and implementations\r\nStay current with emerging blockchain technologies, protocols, and industry developments\r\nWhat You'll Bring\r\n6+ years of backend development experience in modern languages (Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript)\r\nStrong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset\r\nKnowledge of consensus mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and distributed systems\r\nUnderstanding of microservices architecture and API design\r\nExperience working in cross-functional teams and fast-paced environments\r\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\r\nPrevious experience in the blockchain ecosystem\r\nPreferred\r\n4+ years of hands-on blockchain development experience\r\nExperience building blockchain solutions for enterprise or institutional use cases\r\nUnderstanding of security best practices for smart contracts and blockchain systems\r\nDemonstrated ability to apply AI tools for programming with experience in vibe coding\r\nExcellent technical communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders\r\nExperience with institutional DeFi, staking protocols, or custody solutions\r\nUnderstanding of MPC, multi-signature wallets, or other advanced cryptographic techniques\r\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\r\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm\r\nSuccess Criteria & Impact:\r\nThe team is never surprised by a technical change in a core protocol\r\nResearch is consistently used as the foundation for architectural decisions\r\nConsidered subject matter experts by internal engineering teams\r\nProvide foundational knowledge needed to make informed, long-term strategic decisions, de-risk new integrations, and stay ahead of the technology curve\r\nConsistent contribution to Fireblocks system by pushing impactful design and code to production\r\nFor employees hired to work from our NYC HQ, Fireblocks is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range is specific to New York City and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as years of experience, skills, and other business needs. A reasonable base salary range estimate for this position is $177,000 to $230,000. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, a very competitive equity grant, and very generous benefits.
