{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"2cb7b184d3265d28c5bb20f5","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/2cb7b184d3265d28c5bb20f5","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/2cb7b184d3265d28c5bb20f5","title":"BESS Engineer","description":"Duration: 12+ months contract with potential extends or Convert\nJob Description\n\nThe Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Project Engineer who is passionate about renewable energy.\n\nIn this position you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, to include exposure to cross-functional teams across the organization.\n\nYou have the critical responsibility of planning, designing, and executing multiple energy storage augmentation projects.\n\nThis involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, engineering oversight and consulting across cross functional teams to deliver a best-in‑class product.\n\nYou will be part of a growing team of experts who not only provide excellent data‑driven inputs and analysis but are also customer service oriented with internal and external stakeholders.\n\nEmployees in this role are strong problem solvers, blending creative and analytical skills to solve complex integration of batteries of differing technologies to existing sites.\n\nSuccessful candidates will have acute attention to detail with proven abilities to identify and apply lessons learned, implement process countermeasures, create tools and standardize work practices to maximize the performance and functionality of battery energy storage systems.\n\nYou will utilize data from various internal and external sources to perform technical due diligence and propose storage & hybrid solutions to support our customers’ evolving needs.\n\nAs a support function, you will work collaboratively across the organization to support design, construction and commissioning.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPerform detailed design engineering of electrical, structural and civil aspects of utility‑scale energy storage augmentation projects\n\nManage multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working closely with external Engineers of Record, Project Managers and permitting, procurement, interconnection and construction teams\n\nPrepare technical scopes of work for incorporation into contract documents\n\nSupport projects from conception through execution, working closely with early‑stage and construction project managers\n\nInfluence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work, including close collaboration with and oversight of external Engineers of Record\n\nMaintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas\n\nInfluence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work\n\nCollaborate with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment\n\nCollaborate with multi‑disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls\n\nSupport energy storage strategies through technical and market analysis\n\nIdentify value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospects\n\nPerform other job‑related duties as assigned\n\nExperience\n\nAn SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with\n\nestablished expertise in one or more of the following areas:\n\nDesign and/or operation of large‑scale power generation or processing plants involving\n\nadherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of\n\ntechnically complex systems\n\nHands‑on experience and knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching,\n\nelectrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices\n\nStrong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries,\n\npower conversion units and DC‑DC converters\n\nLithium‑ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA\n\n70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections\n\nFamiliarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA)\n\nprocesses, particularly in WECC and CAISO\n\nConstruction permitting and contracting experience\n\nShows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical\n\nobjectives\n\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and\n\nnon‑technical concepts to diverse audiences\n\nSkills\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\n\nEducation\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program\n\nAbout US Tech Solutions\nUS Tech Solutions is a global staff augmentation firm providing a wide range of talent on‑demand and total workforce solutions.
