Job Summary:This position is designed to undertake a variety of inspection andtesting procedures, as well as verify production and incoming materialsmeet quality standards. These activities will include regularinteraction with the shop floor employees and VPI management. Some jobresponsibilities will be manual and simplistic while other tasks will bemore technical and analytical in nature. Accordingly, the job requiresphysical fitness but also the ability to collect, upload, present andexplain inspection/testing results. Additionally, a VPI QualityTechnician must be able to follow direction and meet deadlines, however,upon receiving instruction and direction, work alone and independentlyfor much of the shift. VPI Quality Technicians must have a passion forthe work and moving things forward demonstrating the ability to besuccessful in a fast paced, dynamic and shift priority environment.Following safe working practices at all times is essential. Reports To:Quality Assurance/Lab Technician Supervisor SupervisoryResponsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Perform 1st piece andhourly inspections of production materials for color, size, shape, andcosmetics as well as documenting results of both incoming materials andmanufactured products to ensure compliance to standard. Interact withproduction employees to ensure a thorough understanding of qualityexpectations. Execute laboratory testing as needed in accordance withstandard ASTM procedures, making observations and interpreting findings.Perform tests on VPI floor products to make sure that they meetstandards and specifications. Record all inspection data and results inspecified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.Prepare reports, charts, and graphs. Organize and store all chemicals,materials, equipment, samples, and data (paper and electronic copies) ina safe and orderly fashion. Set up and maintain laboratory andinspection equipment and instruments. Ensure that all safety guidelinesare followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderlyenvironment. Assist with cycle count program. \*\*\*\*\* OTHEREXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skills/Abilities: Provenexperience as a Quality Technician, Quality Control Inspector or ademonstrated ability to quickly grow into the position. A \"DIY aptitudeand skillset\" as well as the ability to work independently. A keen eyefor detail is an imperative trait to successfully fulfil the needs ofthis position. Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)and database systems Ability to work autonomously and to meet deadlines.Must be a good communicator both verbal and written. Excellent physicalcondition and endurance. Previous work in a plastics manufacturingenvironment is beneficial. Qualifications: Proven experience as aQuality Technician, Quality Control Inspector, Lab Technician, or ademonstrated ability to quickly grow into the position. A \"DIYmentality and skillset\" is a must. Familiarity with flooring roducts,installation, maintenance, and composition is desirable. Good workingknowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems. Abilityto work autonomously, with a proven record of multitasking and meetingdeadlines. A degree in quality, chemistry, or another relevant fieldwould be of significant advantage. The ability to discern color isimperative along with a keen eye for detail. Ability to utilize variousmeasuring tools/gauges to successfully verify production. Must be a goodcommunicator both verbal and written. Excellent physical condition andendurance.
