They also assist in the coordination and oversight of special projects and citywide events. They may provide general supervision to a small number of staff members. Performs related work as required.\n\nCITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.\n\nTypical Work Activities\nSupports the development and implementation of department programs in collaboration with program staff, community partners, and other City departments;\nAssists with the coordination and oversight of special projects and citywide events;\nSupports program coordinators with data collection and organization;\nPrepares a variety of written reports;\nTracks key performance indicators for a variety of programs;\nPrepares and organizes Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and related documentation;\nServes as the point of contact for program and project vendors and partners.\n\nResponsibilities related to homelessness initiatives:\nCoordinates with the Rochester Police Department (RPD) on homeless outreach efforts and utilization of established protocol for removal of homeless encampments;\nMaintains regular communications with the Neighborhood Service Centers on the identification and monitoring of homeless encampments within each quadrant and works with the Office of Planning on the development and maintenance of maps of them;\nServes as a liaison with the Chief of Staff in working with the Governor’s Office and the New York State Department of Transportation to address homelessness issues on State owned land;\nIn conjunction with the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development’s Housing Unit, provides assistance to emergency shelters and service providers;\nProvides support to the Department of Environmental Services in their cleanup efforts associated with homeless encampments;\nServes as City’s point person with the Monroe County Health Department, community organizations, and non-profit service providers to ensure coordination of homeless outreach efforts and services;\nDevelops and maintains relationships with cities throughout the State and Country to keep abreast of best practices related to homelessness and how they can be applied within the City of Rochester;\nIdentifies and coordinates the pursuit of grant funding to support initiatives related to homelessness.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent, PLUS either I, II, III, or IV:\n\nI. Master’s degree AND one (1) year of experience in municipal or public programming or administration;\nOR\nII. Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of experience in municipal or public programming or administration;\nOR\nIII. Associate’s degree AND five (5) years of experience in municipal or public programming or administration;\nOR\nIV.
