Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.\n\nA major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery.\n\nJob Summary:\nThe Mechanical Lead will support the Mechanical Engineering Group Supervisor in leading other Mechanical Engineers who will prepare design and procurement documents for the Sentinel Project. This position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments as they pertain to HVAC systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills and proven problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.\n\nMajor Responsibilities:\nProvide direction and technical guidance to discipline work group and assist the management of discipline work process execution and ensure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.\nAssist in the building of an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.\nEstablish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied. Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.\nDevise innovative approaches to solving problems from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.\nContribute directly to the cost-effective design of plumbing and fire protection systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment.\nIdentify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decisions.\nServe as an advisor for the analysis and solution of engineering problems and interpret drawings, verbal instructions, and applicable codes relevant to project requirements and the ability to articulate explanations.\nInterface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design.\nPerform other related work as assigned by Mechanical Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors.\nEducation and Experience Requirements:\nRequires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.\nMust be a US citizen.\n\nRequired Knowledge and Skills:\nMust be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug and background check, which includes verification of employment and education.\nExperience in Piping/Ventilation and Instrument Diagram (P&ID/V&ID) development, HVAC system design, equipment, pipe, and duct sizing calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, DoD projects, or chemical process facilities.\nExperience with International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE, and/or SMACNA codes typically used in HVAC systems.\nExperience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).\nExperience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.\nU.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).\nPossess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.\nThe salary range for this role is $110,000 - $155,000; however, Craig Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.\nNote: This job description describes the general nature of the duties and requirements of the job.
