Job DescriptionJob Summary: Primary responsibilities are Maintenance, Reliability, & Capital Project Engineering support of instrumentation, safety instrumented systems (SIS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and field relay logic. The Instrument & Analyzer Engineer will have Process, Controls, Electrical, Mechanical acumen to lead and coordinate refinery & power plant installations which employ new capital and reliability enhancements to obtain optimal asset performance. This position acts as the focal point for instrumentation reliability and works closely with the Operations, Maintenance & Technical groups for solutions development.Primary Functions:Responsible for the application and improvement of instrumentation including connected devices and is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for instrumentation with proficiencies in the application and interpretation of the Company, site legacy, and industry standardsUses the industry methodology for instrumentation to be successfully applied. Identifies and evaluates technology upgrades with application opportunities in capital projects through peer review process with Maintenance & Reliability.Gathers improvement feedback from Operations, Technical, Reliability & Maintenance disciplines to improve or correct designs, installations, and increase plant equipment uptimeProvide quality control and design reviews of new projects that involve any instrumentation apparatus or systemsSpecifies equipment, installation materials, and quotations for procurementCreates work/bid packages to obtain engineering services and installation quotations from competing contractorsWorks in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, Operations and Maintenance personnelProvide leadership and oversight for equipment record tracking to ensure correct as-built information is filed and accessible in the document management systemGenerates project estimates and sketches needed to obtain fundingProvide input to budget tracking and estimating five-year budget outlook for instrument & controls improvement plans that align with business goals and objectives. This includes focus on strategic goals and implementation steps to sustain continued improvements for optimum equipment performance.Mentors less experienced engineers and provides technical training to other refinery personnelProvide assistance in the field during start-ups, testing, tuning and tracking of shutdowns or upsetsProvide troubleshooting assistance and Root Cause Failure Analysis expertise and support as needed for equipment failuresInitiates Management of Change for Instrumentation related changes and follows MOC processJob Requirements:BS in an Engineering discipline. Skilled in process unit operations.Preferred minimum experience preferred is 5 years in the chemical, oil and gas industry supporting Electrical / Instrumentation in a plant environment. Lesser experience considered.Logic proficiencies: Configuration definitions for Bently-Nevada vintages and Woodward products, Triconex logic coding and structured text, PLC ladder logic and function blocks, relay logic & component assemblyStrategic and creative thinking abilitiesInteractive skills necessary for teamwork buildingAbility to communicate effectively to all levels of an organization via verbal and written communications and possess computer skills needed for communications and analysisWilling to be available outside of normal working hours to serve as technical consultantAbility to handle multiple priorities, assist peers, manage short deadlines and emergency situationsUse engineering design tools for instrument calculations including but not limited to orifice plate sizing, level transmitter span calculations, control valve sizingAbility to navigate and search instrument and document computer databases as well as traditional paper document records.Job Preferences:Conversant in related industry standards, e.g., ISA S84/IEC 61511, API 560/611-619/670, NFPA 85Familiar with SAP for entering purchase requisitions and searching warehouse stockKnowledgeable in process safety management practices and risk managementWe thank all respondents for their interest in PBF Holding Company LLC (“PBF Energy”), however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. The salary range for this position is $101,702.39 - $167,676.64 The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.
