Shared Living Provider
Residential services provided in a single-family home setting are called shared living services. Shared living services are delivered under a shared living provider subcontract with Vodec..
Shared living services are formalized training and support for the acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to living in the community. Supports provided include adaptive skill development of daily living activities, such as personal grooming and cleanliness, bed making and household chores, eating and the preparation of food, community inclusion, transportation, and the social and leisure skill development necessary to enable the consumer to live in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs. Shared living services also include personal care and protective oversight as applicable to the consumer as well as supervision.
The consumer pays monthly room and board to the shared living provider. The shared living provider is paid through Vodec for support services covered by state funds.
How can someone become a Shared Living Provider?
Vodec looks for people that treat people with respect, are caring, supportive and who have an extra room available in their home. Vodec prefers that the shared living provider has some experience with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, but it is not a requirement. Applicants should apply on Indeed. Vodec will work with you to match you up with a person who is looking to live in a shared living setting.
Our goal is to create the best match possible between the shared living provider and the person desiring supports. Shared living providers must agree to a 12-month contract with the person. However, it is hoped that the relationship will last much longer. Vodec ensures that the shared living provider meets all regulatory requirements and offers state-required training to provide quality services and supports.
