The role will spend approximately 60% of its time traveling to support plant operations, launches, troubleshooting, and process improvements, with approximately 30% of the time based at the Fraser facility. The position will own molding processes, drive improvements in cycle time, scrap, and quality, support new program launches, develop standardized processes, and supervise Process Technicians.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Frequency of duties, percent of time and work year may vary based on department or building assignment.\n\nMonitor plant processes for molding machines and make detailed recommendations on how to optimize the manufacturing process.\n\nOwn the process for all manufacturing molding and associated operations.\n\nSupport the Program Managers in meeting samples required for new product releases and / or process evaluations.\n\nRespond to all Quality and Operator issues regarding parts and processes.\n\nSupport, Update and improve existing machine technology.\n\nAssist Manufacturing in the launch of new programs.\n\nDefine specifications for new or improved equipment. Participate in equipment design in coordination with designers, vendors, and other engineers.\n\nAssist in reducing external PPM.\n\nAssist in training Process Techs and Operators and Maintenance.\n\nSupervise Process Techs.\n\nInitiate and execute strategic projects, using Kaizen, RIE, and CI methodologies to improve injection molding process performance metrics to the next level as measured by cycle time and scrap.\n\nManage the documented process setting and change control procedures and audit for discipline and compliance.\n\nOther duties as assigned by the Tech Manager.\n\nRequirements\n\nEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:\n\nBachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent experience.\n\nThree to five years’ experience in troubleshooting injection molding equipment preferred\n\nMust have good knowledge regarding the design of injection molds and related equipment\n\nStrong Team Player with exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:\n\nAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.\n\nAble to stand, stoop, twist, climb and repetitively perform tasks for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours).\n\nAble to bend the body forward and downward while bending at the spine at the waist 45 degrees or more; bending below thE waist or down toward an object on or near the ground.\n\nAble to work around hot molds, presses, cranes, and industrial equipment and work in tight spaces.\n\nAble to use hands and fingers to seize, hold, grasp objects.\n\nAbility to extend arms with the hands higher than the head; reaching at or below shoulder level.\n\nAscend or descend ramps and/or stairs using feet and legs.\n\nAbility to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery alarms, medical codes, or warnings). Work frequently in close proximity to machinery; noise levels are moderate.\n\nClose vision (distance of 20 inches or less) and ability to identify/distinguish colors.\n\nHands-on role 60-80% of the time, with mixture of desk and computer duties.\n\nTemperature in facility can vary up to 90 degrees.
