Medical Director, Behavioral Health

Location: Remote (eligible states: AK, AR, AZ, CO, FL, HI, IA, ID, IL, KS, LA, MD, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, NC, ND, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA/DC, WA, WI, WY)Description:The Medical Director, Behavioral Health, provides clinical oversight for behavioral health activities across the West Region. This role serves as a senior clinical consultant within medical management, partnering closely with leadership and reporting to the Behavioral Health Chief Medical Officer. The position is responsible for guiding clinical decision-making, ensuring quality of care, and supporting integrated behavioral health strategies.What You Will Do:Provide clinical oversight and consultation for behavioral health programs and initiativesServe as a subject matter expert and clinical authority on behavioral health issuesPartner with CMOs, Medical Directors, and leadership to develop and implement integrated care strategiesConduct medical necessity reviews and participate in peer-to-peer consultationsSupport clinical case reviews, audits, and quality improvement initiativesAdvise utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease management teamsCollaborate with internal teams and external providers to improve clinical outcomes and practice patternsParticipate in committees, projects, and cross-functional initiatives supporting medical management programsProvide clinical guidance and supervision to behavioral health staff and team coordinatorsYou Will Be Successful If:Demonstrated ability to influence clinical decision-making and drive quality improvement initiativesExperience operating as a senior clinical advisor to executive leadershipAbility to function effectively within a matrixed, managed care environmentStrong clinical judgment in utilization and medical necessity determinationsProven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to balance strategic oversight with hands-on clinical consultationWhat You Will Bring:MD or DO with a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United StatesBoard Certification in PsychiatryMinimum of 5 years of clinical practice experienceMinimum of 5 years of medical management experience within a managed care environmentExperience with utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease managementU.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Department of Defense clearanceStrong knowledge of managed behavioral health, regulatory requirements, and compliance standardsPreferred: experience with TRICARE, VA, or other government healthcare programsPreferred: advanced training or certification in medical managementAbout Impresiv Health:Impresiv Health is a healthcare consulting partner specializing in clinical & operations management, enterprise project management, professional services, and software consulting services.
