Northern Manhattan Rehab and Nursing Center - Now Hiring: Nursing Department Unit Clerk / Medical Appointment Scheduler in New York, NYNorthern Manhattan Rehab and Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and highly organized Secretary to support our Nursing Department . This position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth daily operations in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate is professional, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively .Responsibilities of Unit Clerk / Medical Appointment Scheduler:Carry out assignments from the Director of Nursing (DON) or designee accurately and promptlyPromote cooperative and professional relationships with residents, families, staff, vendors, and healthcare partnersInput and transmit computerized data (e.g., MDS, Medicare, PRI , etc.)Operate office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and other office machinesPrepare, duplicate, distribute, and mail reports, letters, and documents as directedSchedule appointments and meetings and direct visitors to appropriate areasAnswer telephones professionally and provide information in accordance with nursing home regulations , referring complex inquiries to appropriate personnelPrepare and maintain nursing staffing schedules for all units, ensuring adequate coverageMaintain accurate records of employee benefits and leave daysMonitor daily staffing schedules for absenteeism and promptly update the DON/designeePre-register and schedule resident appointments for outside services and follow-up visitsArrange transportation and escorts for resident appointmentsMaintain professional relationships with outside agencies, hospitals, and partner facilitiesMaintain and organize patient medical records and related documentationPrioritize incoming and outgoing mail and faxes , maintaining accurate files and recordsAbstract, analyze, audit, and code medical records promptlyOversee the release, storage, archiving, and transcription of medical records in compliance with HIPAA standardsMaintain strict confidentiality of all nursing office mattersRespond to the needs of the facility and staff and accept assignments based on operational needsQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentProficiency in Microsoft OfficeMinimum of two (2) years of clerical experience , preferably in a healthcare or nursing home settingExperience with proofreading, cross-indexing, and filingExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong attendance and punctuality are requiredCNA certificate preferredWhat We Offer:Supportive and collaborative work environmentOpportunity to work in a respected Skilled Nursing FacilityCompetitive compensation based on experienceIf you are a dependable, detail-oriented professional with healthcare clerical experience, we encourage you to apply.04/01/2026
