This role works closely with software engineers, embedded systems engineers, and physicists to accelerate technology development by building and maintaining the infrastructure, automation, and tooling that underpin our systems.\nThis is a highly technical, hands-on role supporting cutting-edge quantum computing systems, where requirements evolve quickly and the “right” solution is not always obvious at the outset. You’ll be working in an environment that spans on-prem infrastructure, lab and scientific equipment, embedded systems, and production software, often simultaneously.\nWe’re looking for engineers who are comfortable operating in uncertainty, who enjoy solving concrete problems, and who can help evolve systems from early solutions into robust, production-quality platforms over time. We’re open to candidates with different experience levels; strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly matter more than having every skill listed.\nJob Responsibilities\nBuild and operate on-prem and hybrid infrastructure supporting quantum computing platforms\nAdminister Linux systems in both production and research environments\nManage servers, virtualization, and capacity from bare metal through VMs\nDesign, operate, and troubleshoot networking across compute systems, labs, and connected devices\nWork with NAS/SAN and shared storage technologies to support stateful, high-throughput workloads\nDevelop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration, testing, and deployment\nApply infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices\nSupport and integrate networked lab equipment, IoT-style devices, and specialized hardware\nCollaborate across disciplines to support testing, deployment, and operational workflows\nParticipate in incident response and help drive iterative reliability and operability improvements\nIncorporate security, hardening, and operational best practices as systems mature\nHow We Build Systems\nOur work sits on the bleeding edge of technology.
